Caleb Malhotra Eyes Canucks Dream Under Dad's Coaching at 2026 Draft
Brantford Bulldogs center Caleb Malhotra, a top draft prospect in the 2026 NHL Draft, voiced excitement about the possibility of playing for the Vancouver Canucks if his father Manny Malhotra is the coach, after Manny was hired by Vancouver. The Canucks hold the No. 3 pick and interviewed Caleb at the NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo. While Caleb said it would be “pretty cool” to play for his dad, Vancouver GM Ryan Johnson stressed that selections will be based on the best player, free of outside influence. Caleb highlighted his strong OHL season, his commitment to Boston University in 2026-27, and his belief that Manny’s leadership has already helped him grow, noting the rarity of father-coach duos in NHL history.
