Paris’s 400-year-old covered food market reduced to rubble in overnight blaze
A fire has completely destroyed the Marché Couvert des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered food market in Paris, which has operated since 1615. Authorities confirmed the structure's metal framework partially collapsed, leaving nothing of the historic venue intact. The fire, which occurred overnight between Sunday and Monday, was contained before spreading to neighboring buildings. While the market was a major tourist attraction and ranked fifth globally for street food, no injuries were reported.
