Margaret Moth: Fearless CNN Camerawoman Who Redefined War Reporting
Margaret Moth, a pioneering CNN camera operator and one of Australasia’s first female war reporters, survived a 1992 Sarajevo sniper attack—shattering her jaw and base of tongue and prompting 25 surgeries—then returned to cover wars for 15 more years. She died in 2010 at 59. Her bravery helped CNN improve journalist safety in war zones, and she earned the International Women’s Media Foundation Courage in Journalism Award while mentoring others.
