How a 1983 Larry David Script Nearly Became a Hit Before Falling Through
An exclusive excerpt from Blake J. Harris’s new biography reveals the full history of Larry David’s 1983 script 'Prognosis: Negative,' which went viral in May 2026. The story details how David’s former manager, Marilyn Black, secured interest from Rob Reiner and Richard Dreyfuss, and negotiated a $200,000 deal with David Susskind that ultimately collapsed due to creative control disputes. Although the script was eventually optioned by Barry & Enright for $35,000, it never reached production, marking a pivotal but unfulfilled chapter in David’s pre-'Seinfeld' career.
