NFL fines for 'beer chugs' spark backlash as Bud Light mocks $37k total penalty
The NFL fined three players over $37,000 for miming drinking a beverage, drawing sharp criticism from fans and Bud Light, the league's official beer sponsor. 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, whose wife mocked the penalty on social media, was fined $14,926 for a gesture he says honors his nickname 'Juice.' Colts guard Matt Goncalves and Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson also received fines for similar celebrations. The league's crackdown on 'offensive' celebrations clashes with its heavy reliance on alcohol and gambling advertising, prompting Bud Light to tweet a sarcastic response referencing the exact fine total.
