Prego's Connection Keeper: A Limited-Run Tabletop Recorder for Family Dinners
Prego, in partnership with StoryCorps, has launched the Connection Keeper—a limited-edition, puck-shaped recording device that sits on the table to capture smartphone-free family chats. It records locally to a 16GB microSD card (up to eight hours), charges via USB-C, and offers prompts to spark conversation; there’s no screen or internet connectivity. Priced at $20, fewer than 100 units went on sale April 27. Recordings can be kept private in the StoryCorps portal or uploaded to the public archive starting May 4, but sharing should follow consent as anything uploaded becomes accessible online. The device draws inspiration from pasta sauce lids and remains a niche, novelty product.
