"NY Nursing Homes Misuse $83M in Funds, Neglect Residents: Allegations"
New York State Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit accusing the owner of four nursing homes, Kenneth Rozenberg, of misusing over $83 million in government funds meant for elderly care to purchase Israeli airline El Al and other investments instead. The suit alleges that Rozenberg and co-owner Daryl Hagler used Medicaid and Medicare funds to enrich themselves, neglecting residents who suffered from malnutrition and neglect. The company denies the allegations. The lawsuit seeks the return of the funds and a ban on new admissions until staffing is increased at the homes.
