Akron's Northside Marketplace to Close July 31 as Vendors Look to Mercantile Akron
Northside Marketplace will permanently close on July 31 after Testa Companies determined its finances could not support a sustainable path; vendors have been left owed money and are encouraged to apply for space at The Mercantile Akron, opening in September at 1 Cascade Plaza with dedicated space for local makers. The Mercantile Akron will offer groceries, grab-and-go items, and Akron-branded merchandise, with vendors able to move in during August for a September soft opening. Separate Akron projects include 159 Grocery Market and The Crafty Steere.
