Mexico's 'Colmena': A Pioneering Leap in Latin American Lunar Exploration
Mexico is set to launch its first lunar mission, marking a historic moment for the country and Latin America. The mission, developed by the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) with the help of scientists and university students, will send five microrobots to the moon to gather data and test technologies. The robots are part of project Colmena and will be launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, as part of NASA's Artemis program. The mission aims to demonstrate Mexican engineering prowess and contribute to technological sovereignty for the country. After a delay in 2022, the launch is now scheduled for early January with a late February lunar arrival.
