ESA Astronaut Andreas Mogensen Successfully Completes Historic First Spacewalk
ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen will embark on his first spacewalk on October 12th, during which he will install a new high-definition camera on the International Space Station and prepare an experiment for a future upgrade. NASA astronaut Loral O'Hara will accompany him, and they will both undergo safety procedures and checks before venturing outside the station. Andreas will install the camera while strapped to the robotic arm Canadarm2, which will be operated from ground control for the first time. Loral will collect swabs to study microbes outside the station, and both astronauts will work on the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer. The spacewalk is expected to last six hours.
