Japan and South Korea have agreed to speed up talks to resolve disputes over past military encounters that have hindered their relationship and closer security cooperation. The two countries will focus on devising measures to prevent a recurrence of a 2018 radar incident. They also condemned North Korea's failed satellite launch and agreed on the need for greater security cooperation with the US to curb the North's nuclear and missile threats and promote a more stable Indo Pacific.
