"War in Ukraine Blamed for Over 100 Dolphin Deaths in Black Sea"
More than 100 dolphins, mostly Black Sea bottlenose dolphins, are feared dead due to military sonar in the Black Sea, caused by Russian naval activity due to the war in Ukraine, according to Ivan Rusev, Head of the Research Department of the Tuzly Estuaries National Park in southwest Ukraine. The death toll is believed to be much higher, with scientists estimating it surpasses 1,000. The uptick in deaths is unusual, with Rusev finding three to four dead dolphins annually along the 27 miles of shoreline in the park.
