Mencia nabbed in L.A. on 12-count tax evasion case
Comedian Carlos Mencia was arrested at his Encino home on suspicion of 12 felony counts of tax evasion for failing to file California state tax returns from 2019–2024 and failing to report about $8.7 million in personal and NedLos Entertainment earnings; bail set at $250,000 with arraignment slated for Monday. If convicted on all counts, he could face more than 10 years in prison and would owe taxes and interest. The charges stem from the DA's new Business Tax Fraud Unit; Mencia previously faced federal tax issues in 2021 over taxes for 2013–2015.
