SpaceX's Starlink Satellite 'Mirror Film' Aims to Eliminate Astronomy Photobombs
SpaceX has launched its second-generation Starlink satellites equipped with a new "dielectric mirror film" designed to scatter sunlight away from Earth, reducing interference with ground-based astronomy. The film, along with a "Low Reflectivity Black" paint, aims to absorb and redirect light away from the ground. SpaceX currently has 4,764 Starlink satellites in orbit, with plans to launch tens of thousands more to improve speeds and coverage for Starlink.
