Brighton archive yields six rescued pages from a Tudor manuscript
Scholars have recovered six missing pages of Nicholas Love’s Mirror of the Blessed Life of Jesus Christ at Brighton’s The Keep, linking them to Tudor courtier Sir John Gage who supervised Henry VIII’s dissolution of monasteries; the pages, once listed as missing from a 1929 Sussex Archaeological Society box, have now been matched with Yale’s surviving copy, highlighting how some books were saved and circulated rather than destroyed during the Reformation.
