Hacker Gary Bowser, a member of Team Xecuter, has been released from prison but has been ordered to pay Nintendo $10 million in damages for his involvement in selling modchips that allowed gamers to play pirated games on Nintendo consoles. Nintendo will take 25-30% of his monthly gross income for the rest of his working life to compensate for the damages. While piracy is frowned upon, some argue that the punishment is excessive and unnecessary, especially since Nintendo has not been too kind to its paying customers with design flaws in its hardware.
