Five Bodies Recovered After Lifejacket Spotted by Sapphire Princess
A Princess Cruises ship, the Sapphire Princess, recovered five deceased individuals from the sea after spotting an orange inflatable lifejacket on April 21 while en route to Cartagena from Civitavecchia on a two-week cruise to Copenhagen. The crew deployed its Fast Rescue Boat and coordinated with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center; the victims were not guests or crew and identities were not released. The incident follows a separate rescue by another Princess vessel in February. The line expressed condolences and praised its crew for swift action.
