"Beyond Linear Optics: The Rise of Non-Fock States and Multiphoton Innovations in Quantum Tech"

Japanese researchers from Kyoto University and Hiroshima University have made a significant breakthrough in quantum technology by theoretically and experimentally confirming the properties of non-Fock states (iNFS). These complex quantum states, which require more than a single photon source and linear optical elements, have been shown to maintain stability through multiple linear optics, a contrast to the behavior of quantum entanglement. This discovery could lead to advancements in optical quantum computing and sensing, as well as long-distance optical quantum cryptography. The team aims to further develop larger-scale multiphoton, multimode states and optical quantum circuit chips, marking a potential leap forward in the field.
