California Unveils $3,500 Instant EV Rebate for First-Time Buyers
California rolled out a $3,500 instant rebate for first-time electric-vehicle buyers through the MyFirstEV program, with about $135.5 million funding available to cover roughly 73,000 zero-emission vehicles. The program applies to 2026+ BEVs and hydrogen fuel cell EVs under $50,000, and extends to used EVs (up to $1,750 for under $25,000), while 15 automakers including Tesla and Hyundai will match the government investment dollar-for-dollar. Low-income residents may access larger incentives via Clean Cars 4 All, and the move comes amid federal tax-credit changes and ongoing California clean-energy goals.
