83-year-old British director Mike Leigh has indicated that his upcoming feature, 'Tender Loving Care,' is likely his last film due to the physical toll of myositis. Leigh, who has won both the Venice Golden Lion and the Cannes Palme d'Or, explained that his mobility issues make further filmmaking 'very difficult' and 'not going to be possible.' The film, which stars longtime collaborator Marion Bailey, is set for a December 4 release by Bleecker Street following a fall festival run. Leigh also discussed the challenges of financing independent films without traditional scripts, noting that securing funds for his improvisational style is increasingly difficult in the current landscape.
