NASA details 2027 low-Earth orbit test to vet SpaceX and Blue Origin landers for 2028 Moon landing

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman confirmed a 2027 low-Earth orbit test mission, Artemis III, to evaluate SpaceX and Blue Origin lunar landers before the 2028 crewed Moon landing, Artemis IV. The 14-day mission will involve three rocket launches and complex docking maneuvers in orbit. While NASA maintains optionality between the two companies, tight timelines and supply chain challenges remain key risks.
