Administration Uses Defense Production Act to Fast-Track Energy Infrastructure
The President invoked Section 303 of the Defense Production Act to designate the development, manufacturing, and deployment of large-scale energy and energy-related infrastructure as essential to national defense, citing a national energy emergency and market barriers that prevent timely supply under normal conditions. He waives certain DPA requirements to speed action and authorizes purchases, commitments, and financing to build domestic production capabilities, directing implementation and publication of the determination in the Federal Register.
