Putin Expands Russia's Nuclear Submarine Fleet
Russian President Vladimir Putin has inaugurated two new nuclear submarines, the Emperor Alexander III and Krasnoyarsk, and promised to strengthen Russia's naval power. The Emperor Alexander III is part of Russia's new Borei class of nuclear-powered submarines armed with 16 nuclear-tipped Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles, while the Krasnoyarsk belongs to the Yasen class equipped with long-range, high-precision missiles. Putin emphasized the importance of naval strength in ensuring Russia's safety and announced plans to build eight more submarines. This move comes as Putin seeks a fifth presidential term and amid increased military spending in Russia.
