New Study Reveals Surprising Early Sign of Alzheimer's: Walking Difficulties
Researchers from University College London (UCL) have used virtual reality to identify a new sign of early Alzheimer's disease related to walking. In a small study, participants with early Alzheimer's consistently overestimated turns on a route and had a greater variability in their sense of direction compared to healthy individuals. The findings suggest that problems with navigation could be an important early sign of Alzheimer's. The researchers aim to develop practical tests for early diagnosis that can be easily integrated into clinical settings.
