PSU Dominates Semis, Near-Certain to Clinch Fourth Straight NCAA Wrestling Title
Penn State swept through the semifinals with six finalists and owns a commanding 153-point lead over Oklahoma State in the team race, setting up a near-certain fourth consecutive NCAA team title. The spotlight, however, fell on PJ Duke’s 157-pound semifinal loss after a replay overturned a potential takedown in a controversial call, which Cael Sanderson described as a blown call. Duke advances to the consolation bracket while PSU’s six finalists — Luke Lilledahl, Shayne Van Ness, Mitchell Mesenbrink, Levi Haines, Rocco Welsh, and Josh Barr — are set for Saturday’s finals, with the team title virtually secured.
