USA TODAY appointed Jamie Stockwell as vice president of news, effective March 30, to spearhead modernization and deepen ties with the USA TODAY Network’s 200+ local outlets. Stockwell, a veteran editor with roles at The Washington Post, The New York Times, Axios Local, and other outlets, is tasked with driving high-impact, unbiased journalism while expanding the national audience.
Robert Winnett will not be joining the Washington Post as its next editor following staff backlash and ethical concerns over his and CEO Will Lewis' past journalism practices in the UK. Winnett will remain with The Telegraph Media Group in London. The Washington Post will now launch a new search for an editor, with Matt Murray continuing as executive editor through the upcoming elections.
