Porter Jr. mulls Week 1 participation amid Steelers contract talks
Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. says he doesn’t know if he’ll play Week 1 without a new contract after being activated from the PUP list and taking part in a walk-through. Pittsburgh has said it won’t negotiate during the regular season, giving less than two weeks to finalize a deal before the season opener vs. the Falcons on Sept. 13. Porter says he has support from teammates and coaches, but his Week 1 status depends on ongoing contract discussions and where things stand with a deal.
