Poison Suspected as 10 Lions Die in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Reserve
Ten lions were found dead in the Ndutu area of Tanzania's UNESCO-listed Ngorongoro Conservation Area in a suspected poisoning incident; authorities say an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and identify those responsible. The Ngorongoro area has a history of tension between authorities and local communities amid eviction plans and rapid population growth near wildlife habitats, and lions are listed as vulnerable by the IUCN.
