San Diego woman sentenced to 35-80 years for killing Pittsburgh twin
Nicole Virzi, a 32-year-old from San Diego, has been sentenced to 35 to 80 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2024 murder of her best friend's 6-week-old son, Leon Katz, and the assault of his twin brother, Ari. Virzi admitted to intentionally shaking and dropping Leon, stating she had a lifelong compulsion to harm children. The plea deal spared her a potential death sentence and spared the grieving family the trauma of a trial.
