Microsoft has patched a zero-day vulnerability in the Windows Common Log File System (CLFS) that was actively exploited by hackers to launch ransomware attacks, including the Nokoyawa ransomware. The flaw affected all supported versions of Windows, and an attacker who successfully exploited it could gain full access to an unpatched system. Cybersecurity researchers warn that financially motivated cybercriminals are increasingly using zero-day exploits in their attacks. Microsoft also fixed almost 100 other flaws as part of its regularly scheduled Patch Tuesday update.
