US Woman Charged for Aiding Canadian School Shooter in Deadly Tumbler Ridge Massacre
James Cody Bryant, a 30-year-old Washington state resident, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to murder in connection with the February 2026 Tumbler Ridge school shooting in British Columbia, which killed eight people. Federal prosecutors allege Bryant provided tactical advice, money, and agreed to livestream the attack via Discord, despite having the opportunity to report the plan to authorities. The shooter, Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, killed her mother, stepbrother, five students, and a teacher before dying by suicide. While the US charges focus on Bryant's active assistance, Canadian officials are investigating potential domestic charges, and victim families have separately sued OpenAI over the shooter's use of ChatGPT to plan the attack.
