Anthropic rolls out Opus 5, aiming for Fable 5 parity with stronger safeguards
Anthropic released Claude Opus 5, a model pitched as close to Claude Fable 5 in many domains and stronger at coding, with enhanced cybersecurity safeguards versus Opus 4.8. Opus 5 is priced at $5 input / $25 output per million tokens, cheaper than Fable 5 and GPT-5.6, and offers a Fast mode for higher speed plus an automatic fallback to a lower-tier model when safeguards are triggered, targeting enterprise use and addressing regulatory scrutiny.
