Oregon Journalism Project Retracts Nafisa Fai Flag Story After Conflicting Evidence Emerges
The Oregon Journalism Project retracted a story claiming a viral video of Washington County Commissioner Nafisa Fai speaking before an upside-down American flag was a deepfake. The outlet admitted that new images showed the flag was indeed upside down at the October 10 event in Minneapolis. Fai, a Somali immigrant and chair candidate, maintains she did not deliberately display the flag incorrectly and is seeking original footage to verify the incident.
