Wildfires continue to threaten Canadian communities.
Thousands of people are being evacuated across Canada as new and intensifying wildfires continue to spread. The country has seen nearly 17,800 square miles burned since the beginning of the year, with the west being particularly hit. The situation is expected to last all summer, according to Quebec Minister of Public Security Francois Bonnardel. Environmental authorities currently list 416 active fires in the country, 203 of which are classified as out of control.
