Moscow Police Detain 60 at Communist Rally After Anti-Kremlin Chants
Moscow police detained approximately 60 individuals on October 4 during an authorized Communist Party rally that commemorated the 1993 constitutional crisis. While the event was initially permitted by authorities, detentions escalated as participants shifted from standard patriotic slogans to direct anti-Kremlin chants, including 'Down with the Tsar' and calls for fair elections. The detained group included members of the Communist Party, the liberal Yabloko party, and other activists, highlighting a broader crackdown on political dissent in Russia ahead of upcoming parliamentary elections.
