The Cubs placed right-hander Daniel Palencia on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain (retroactive to April 14). Palencia, who has served as a closer and posted a solid line this year, was last seen Sunday; the Cubs did not announce a corresponding roster move, and backdating may allow a return in about 12 days if he recovers.
