
Hatchet vs. machete clash outside Publix leads to aggravated-battery charges
Two Panama City men, Everette Krichbaum (52) and James Gay (35), were charged with aggravated battery after a Aug. 4, 2026 dispute over a love interest escalated into a machete-and-hatchet fight outside a Publix; both were injured and treated at hospitals, Krichbaum was arrested on Aug. 5, and Gay was arrested the same day, with both men being held in the Bay County Jail as of Aug. 7.
