Pogačar Smashes Alpe d’Huez Climb, Sets Tour de France Record
On Stage 19 of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogačar attacked with 12km to go on Alpe d’Huez, dropped the GC group, and clocked a 35:27 ascent (about 6.9 w/kg) to smash Marco Pantani’s long-standing climbing record by more than a minute. He also set a Strava KOM for the climb (32:26 at ~7 w/kg) as he won the stage and strengthened the yellow jersey, with Carapaz and Martinez among the chasers before being pulled back in the final kilometers.
