DLSS 5 Debuts This Fall as RTX 50-Only Neural Rendering with Three AI Models
NVIDIA unveiled DLSS 5 at SIGGRAPH 2026 as a true neural-rendering pipeline that adds lighting and material detail on top of what a game engine renders. Shipping this fall, DLSS 5 will be exclusive to GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs and will run on a single GPU. It includes three selectable AI models and per-object masking for developers, addressing earlier concerns about multi-GPU requirements. Fifteen titles are confirmed for launch (including Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy). Prices for RTX 50-series cards are high, which could limit real-world adoption. Nvidia frames DLSS 5 as a full rendering pipeline, competing with AMD FSR 4/Redstone and Intel XeSS 2.
