Unusual Quantum Interference of Light Discovered
Researchers from Université libre de Bruxelles have proposed a thought experiment that contradicts common knowledge on the bunching property of photons. They discovered the existence of some instances where photon bunching is substantially strengthened by making photons partially distinguishable via a well-chosen polarization pattern. This anomalous bunching phenomenon should have implications for quantum photonic technologies, which have shown fast progress over the recent years.
