IonQ Links Two Remote Quantum Processors with Photonic Interconnect
IonQ announced the first photonic interconnect between two remote commercial trapped-ion quantum computers, linking two IonQ systems at a distance to demonstrate entanglement and networked quantum operations. Conducted with the Air Force Research Laboratory, the milestone validates photon-based links for distributed quantum hardware and advances IonQ’s roadmap toward modular, fault-tolerant systems and a quantum internet, building on their 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity record.
