Eight students rescued after malfunction on Iron Shark at Galveston Pleasure Pier
Eight riders, including students on a field trip organized by Energized for STEM Academy Middle School and STEM Academy High School, were safely rescued after the Iron Shark roller coaster stalled during its initial ascent at Galveston’s Pleasure Pier. Fire crews used a 105-foot tower basket to lower each rider over about four hours; all were unharmed, and the ride will undergo a safety inspection before returning to service.
