TPUSA Faith VP Urges Trump to Intervene in Australian Church Election Probe
Lucas Miles, vice president of faith at Turning Point USA, has contacted the White House Faith Office urging President Trump to intervene in an Australian parliamentary inquiry into the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. Miles argues that lawmakers questioning church leader Bruce Hales about theological beliefs, such as pet ownership and hairstyles, constitutes a politically motivated witch hunt that sets a dangerous precedent for religious freedom. While the church denies coordinating political activity during the 2025 Australian federal election, critics allege its members engaged in coordinated campaigning and intimidation. The White House has not yet responded to the request for diplomatic pressure on Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
