Defense pivots to deny Lindsay Clancy killed her children in post-mistrial hearing
Lindsay Clancy appeared in court on September 29 for the first time since her murder trial ended in a mistrial on September 4. Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, filed a motion for a required finding of not guilty, arguing there is insufficient evidence that Clancy killed her three children. This marks a significant strategic shift from the initial trial, where the defense conceded the killings but argued Clancy was not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors rejected the new defense, calling it 'laughable' and citing DNA evidence and witness testimony. Judge William Sullivan declined to set a retrial date, stating that pending motions must be resolved first. The next hearing is scheduled for November 2.
