tvOS 27 drops custom URL podcast feeds on Apple TV 4K while adding video podcasts

tvOS 27 adds HLS-based video podcast support to the Podcasts app on Apple TV 4K but removes support for shows added via custom URL feeds (such as membership-only podcasts). Custom feeds remain available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch with their respective OS updates. The change affects only the Apple TV 4K lineup; original Apple TV 4K cannot update beyond tvOS 26. The update targets second- and third-generation Apple TV 4K and is expected to release later this month, though Apple may revisit the removed feature in the future.
