Two Porsche 963 race cars will race at Laguna Seca in a one-off Apple Computer-inspired livery that pays homage to the 1980 Porsche 935 K3 Le Mans design and commemorates Apple’s 50th anniversary and Porsche’s 75th in 2026. The Apple logo sits on the roof with colorful accents along the sides and front, and the cars will compete in the GTP class on May 3 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The No. 6 car driven by Estre/Vanthoor and the No. 7 car driven by Andlauer/Nasr will contend in the GTP class, with JDC-Miller MotorSports’ Laurin Heinrich/Tijmen van der Helm in the No. 5 also running a Porsche 963, while AO Racing and Wright Motorsports field additional Porsches in GTD Pro and GTD. The event is a 2-hour 40-minute race at Laguna Seca.)
Two Porsche Penske 963s will race with a special Apple Music livery at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, extending the Apple–Porsche partnership that began in 2019 and commemorating Porsche Motorsport’s 75th anniversary.
Laurens Vanthoor led Rolex 24 at Daytona practice in the No. 6 Porsche 963 with a 1:36.475, in a session interrupted by three red flags. He beat Ricky Taylor’s No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R by 0.066s; Dries Vanthoor was third in the No. 24 BMW M Hybrid V8, followed by Julien Andlauer’s No. 7 Porsche and Louis Deletraz in the No. 2 WTR Cadillac. Pole-position No. 93 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 was only tenth-fastest; the Heart of Racing Aston Martin had limited running due to issues. Charles Milesi led LMP2 in the No. 11 TDS Oreca 07; GTD Pro was led by Maro Engel in the Express Mercedes, GTD by Scott McLaughlin in the DXDT Corvette. Red-flag incidents involved a DragonSpeed Corvette, an Intersport Oreca and a Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo. The Rolex 24 starts Saturday at 1:40 p.m.
Proton Competition is preparing for its first race with the Porsche 963 in the FIA World Endurance Championship at Monza. The team aims to accumulate as much mileage as possible, considering the limited testing time. The drivers are excited but also aware of the learning curve involved. Proton is the second customer team to introduce the Porsche 963 to the WEC, following Hertz Team JOTA. The team acknowledges that they are slightly behind due to the later debut, but they hope to surprise people with their performance.
