The classic 60-40 mix of stocks and bonds has surged in November, delivering its strongest monthly performance since 2020, according to Bespoke Investment Group. The portfolio, consisting of 60% stocks and 40% bonds, has gained about 7.3% this month, potentially making it the second-best performance in over 30 years. The US stock market has seen significant gains, with the S&P 500 rising 8.3% and the iShares Core US Aggregate Bond ETF on track for its biggest monthly return since December 2008. Despite the recent surge, the 60-40 portfolio remains in a drawdown, trading below its peak since July 2023. However, historically, large gains have typically led to further advances for this investment strategy.
