Phillies Face Do-or-Die Sunday After 12-1 Rout by Rays
The Philadelphia Phillies suffered a 12-1 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, leaving their postseason hopes hanging by a thread. With the regular season ending Sunday, the team must win against the Rays or hope Arizona loses to San Diego to secure a wild-card spot. Ace Zack Wheeler is expected to pitch, a move that sacrifices his rest for a potential playoff opener. The loss followed a disastrous start by Aaron Nola, who lasted only one inning on short rest, and highlighted a severe offensive slump that has cost the team a significant lead over Arizona.
