Rising e-bike injuries across the U.S. have stakeholders debating whether safer streets and protected bike lanes or licensing/registration schemes like Priscilla’s Law will most effectively curb crashes, as cities weigh enforcement, costs and equity concerns; injuries have surged from about 1,600 in 2018 to 23,000 in 2022, with NYC reporting 901 e-bike injuries in 2025.
