Meta's Text-Based App to Compete with Twitter and Instagram
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is reportedly testing its own version of Twitter, internally called "Project 92" or "Barcelona," with a potential launch date in June. The app will be based on Instagram and will prioritize safety, ease of use, and reliability for creators and public figures. Meta employees were given a preview of the app, which features verified users, like and reshare buttons, and a messaging option. The app may be called Threads, according to internal documents. Meta's chief product officer called it "our response to Twitter."
